Anyone who loves horses already knows this, but horses are insanely smart animals! Want proof? Just watch this video.
And while this clip is an example of the intelligence of horses, it’s also a demonstration of how sneaky they can be! This horse learned how to use its face to break its horse buddy free from their pen! He did so by not only opening up the stall door, but actually unlocking it first! I mean, those things are literally designed and manufactured to keep these horses inside of their habitats until their owners let them out, but this steed isn’t going to let a little thing like not having opposable thumbs get in his way!
But why was he so determined to get this fellow horse out? I like to think it’s so they could go for an evening frolic in the field together, but I can’t say that for certain. Or maybe they had the idea to go on a carefully planned two-horse sugar cube heist…who knows!
Speaking of horses, the news is full of stories about the upcoming Kentucky Derby right now, set to take place this Saturday May 5th in Louisville, Kentucky. It’s a long running tradition, and this year marks the 144th annual race. The race itself doesn’t appeal to me as much as the other festivities that take place around the event. Drinking mint juleps, eating burgoo stew, watching local marching bands perform, and decking yourself out in a giant embellished hat are just some of the traditions surrounding the Kentucky Derby! Have you ever been to the race before, and do you plan on watching it this year on TV? Let us know in the comments!
