Aspiring Track Star Bear-ly Escapes

January 10, 2018

This video is downright wild. Sometimes when you’re on the job you see some crazy things. Especially if you’re working outside like this man. He was probably just going about his day on site. But little does he know lying in wait around the corner is a hairy situation.
When this man rounds the corner, he runs straight into a terrifying bear.

Well, perhaps not terrifying. But I’ll admit. When I first saw this video, I thought it was a real bear too. Or at least, one of those giant stuffed ones that was, perhaps, once a real bear but is now nothing more than an overcompensating lawn ornament.

But when this man comes face to face with this “bear,” he doesn’t take any chances. Like Speedy Gonzales, he turns tail and takes off up the hill as quick as he can. You’d think he’d just found out about a Black Friday sale on hardhats. With that kind of speed, he could probably try out for the Olympic track team and give the champions a run for their money.

Bears are commonly found worldwide, though in North America only three species are native: the black bear, the brown bear, and the polar bear. The most common bear found in the United States is the black bear. Though the smallest of the North American bear species, they are the most numerous, with an estimated population of 600,000. They tend to live in heavily forested areas, however they have been known to leave forested areas in search of food. As omnivores, they will often wander into human communities because of the accessibility to food. Luckily, I don’t think they shop at the grocery store.
The question is…is this bear hungry?

Lucky for this man, this bear didn’t seem to be looking for its next meal. Not that the bear could have caught him if it had tried. Despite tripping once or twice, the man is out of sight before the beast can even get its bearings.
